Best Picture Nominees

I am working on a year-by-year discussion of the Best Picture nominees. Each year's page will include the following: a discussion of that year at the Oscars; my comments on each nominee, including a list of the Oscars each film was nominated for and won; and a list of my top ten films from that year.

I started this project back when I actually thought that the Oscars had something to do with actual quality of film. I've continued it because I like to finish things that I start, and because I'm so close, but mainly because I think the Oscars are a valuable window into what mainstream people of a given year thought was good.

Click here for a list of all of the Best Picture nominees for which I have written full reviews.
