What I'm listening to now

Recent Books

The USA Trilogy by John Dos Passos. I'm on volume 2, 1919. Parts of it are the best thing I've ever read, and parts of it make my eyes glaze over.

Movies on Trial: The Legal System on the Silver Screen by Anthony Chase. A really well-crafted film history that necessarily delves into the history of the legal system. Pretty enlightening stuff.

I agree! Great fun! I half realised what was going to happen at the end but still...

Also love the materialism/shallowness stuff. She really wasn't a very sympathetic heroine :-P

Cal, yeah, I realized after thinking about it for a bit, that from a certain point of view, the old gypsy woman (or her curse, anyway) is actually the protagonist against the evil loan officer who took her house

Lohman bugged me more than she did you (as did Long, honestly), but I'm totally with you on the sheer kick of this movie. I'm probably underrating it. I love the review!

I just got back from watching it and I'm with you on this one. I forgot how fun it could be to be so creeped out! I find myself imagining the taste of formaldehyde. Ech.
