Recent Books

Trouble Is My Business by Raymond Chandler. Four Philip Marlowe stories, sort of like espresso to Chandler's usual rich coffee. Although I don't like coffee, so never mind the analogy.

A Negro Explorer at the North Pole by Matthew Henson. He might have been the first non-Inuit to the north pole, depending on who you listen to.

Movies on Trial: The Legal System on the Silver Screen by Anthony Chase. A really well-crafted film history that necessarily delves into the history of the legal system. Pretty enlightening stuff.

For Your Consideration

I liked Little Miss Sunshine, but I didn't love it. However, it will forever have a special place in my heart, because it's the source of the first Oscar swag I've ever received. I didn't get the mini-bus, but I got a pack of eight postcards in the mail today. Dear Fox Searchlight, if I were choosing Best Picture nominees right now, I'd vote for your precious little film. (If I really got to pick, I wouldn't pick it, but hey—we can pretend.)

You must be seeing things. :P

No, really, there were some spam comments. When I delete them through the Movable Type menu, the count adjusts automatically, but when I delete them directly from the database, it sometimes still reflects the old counts.
