The Soft Boys, 1976-1981. While punk was exploding messily (not that there's anything wrong with that), the Soft Boys were quietly and quirkily inventing "alternative" music.

What I'm listening to now

Recent Books

The USA Trilogy by John Dos Passos. I'm on volume 2, 1919. Parts of it are the best thing I've ever read, and parts of it make my eyes glaze over.

Movies on Trial: The Legal System on the Silver Screen by Anthony Chase. A really well-crafted film history that necessarily delves into the history of the legal system. Pretty enlightening stuff.

Six Things That Hurt the Most Right Now

1. Sneezing.
2. Coughing.
3. Getting out of bed.
4. Getting back into bed.
5. ~~The thought of how bad I must smell after not showering since Tuesday~~. (Finally climbed that mountain.)
6. They forgot to nominate Angelina Jolie for Best Actress for her excellent work in A Mighty Heart, which I liked on first viewing, and which vaulted into my top ten list on second viewing. Will she win my Goatie for Best Actress? I'll get back to you on that.

Aww bless ya. The showering thing is a bit rank though. Lol.

I'm totally with you on the Jolie thing. Just watched Blanchett in The Golden Age. I'm in despair at the injustice of it all.

I was really hoping to never have to watch Elizabeth II: Electric Boogaloo, but as usual, Oscar ignored my pleading. Is it on DVD? I should watch it while I'm convalescing. Unless it's so bad that it would hamper my recovery.

My friend had a copy of it. So immoral I know, but it comes out on DVD here the day after the Oscars. I feel kind of justified in not forking out to watch it though, now that I've seen it's total shit. Lol.
