Recent Books

Trouble Is My Business by Raymond Chandler. Four Philip Marlowe stories, sort of like espresso to Chandler's usual rich coffee. Although I don't like coffee, so never mind the analogy.

A Negro Explorer at the North Pole by Matthew Henson. He might have been the first non-Inuit to the north pole, depending on who you listen to.

Movies on Trial: The Legal System on the Silver Screen by Anthony Chase. A really well-crafted film history that necessarily delves into the history of the legal system. Pretty enlightening stuff.

Vice and Violence! (And Birthdays!)

You're all invited to help me celebrate my 32nd birthday. (Did I just type "32nd birthday"? Great googly moogly.) On Saturday, January 6, at 8:00 pm, come see Sam Fuller's Underworld U.S.A. at the LaSalle Bank Cinema at 4901 W.
